This crown was made for Queen Alexandra, wife of King Edward VII, to wear at her coronation in 1902. Made of gold, silver and platinum, it was set with 3,688 diamonds including the Koh-i-Noor. Since then, the Koh-i-Noor has been set in the crown of every subsequent queen consort and belongs today in the crown of Queen Elizabeth the Queen mother. Queen Alexandra’s crown is on show in the exhibition crowns and diamonds: the making of the Crown Jewels which traces the development of English royal crowns and looks at the history of diamonds and their use in the English regalia.
