Steti Mini Coronation Crown, The crown of Hanover, Germany 1843

On the occasion of the marriage of Crown Prince George to Princess Marie of Saxe-Altenburg in 1843 the King ordered crown jewels to be made which include this crown, made of gold, set with emeralds, sapphires and oriental garnets. These Jewels have had a checkered life, belonging in turn to George I , George II, George III, George IV and William IV –Kings of England who, having stemmed from Hanover, were also kings of Hanover. However, this changed when Queen Victoria Came to the throne of England, as in Salic law a woman could not rule Germany.
